Here is a tribute I did to honor John Wayne..... at Work (Bass Pro Shops) will have a Gun Safe with his Picture painter on it take a look. I do a lot of displays for our store... It will be wrapped in rope and placed on a rustic stand. The wood is 4" redwood fence slates glued together.

No fix for stupid but it does depend on definition, because everyone makes mistakes as long as we learn from them no problem.
It is a great sign.

Looks great!

...but you do know that John Wayne wasn't - technically - born until 1930, right?

Yep. Exactly. As I said, John Wayne wasn't born until 1930. Marion Morrison may have been born in 1907, but John Wayne didn't exist until 1930 when first created by Raoul Walsh ("Wayne") and Winfield Sheehan ("John") for the film The Big Trail.

John Wayne was my neighbor down here in Newport Beach, and we used to run into him all the time (he was at a bunch of Republican functions, and my dad worked in Hollywood). Nice guy. Really tall to a 12 year old kid.

Meat.

My CW says it was The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

Was it .......The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is the source of the "Pilgrim" phrase that is commonly used in John Wayne impersonations; Wayne's character addresses James Stewart's character as "Pilgrim" 23 times in the film.

A friend of mine wanted me to make him a picture frame with some John Wayne names on the edges. He has this picture of The Duke and he wanted something different. With the CW and centerline font this is what I came up with... what do you think?

Most of his singing during his early black and white years was dubbed. But Ive attached a carve that I did by request that turned out ok.

Hey Eagle,
Any chance of posting the mpc file for John. My broher in laws is a John Wayne fanatic, and good at refurbing on houses, which I could use some new wiring to set up my wood working shop. Could get me some bonus points if I carved him something like this.
Many thanks

Jimmy,

I have had a lot of fun plus a few orders for this one. Note the Quote is centerline and I used a 60 deg bit to cut it.
You will also notice that the picture of John Wayne is in four parts, you can set the depth to different levels for different effects.

Enjoy and good luck on your bonus points .... LOL

I been playing with the John Wayne mpc.
My father in law likes him and also rides horses so I added the horse.
My questions are about the text. I want to put life as a single word to better fit the carving. When I edit the text I lose the center line text.
Is there a way to edit the text and still keep it center line?
Second where do you control the depth of the text?
Thanks in advance for your help

dustyshp,

Like your version of the John Wayne plaque.
You asked or stated .......

I want to put life as a single word to better fit the carving. Do you want an Upper Case -- LIFE by It's Self?

Is there a way to edit the text and still keep it center line? No You have to have the Centerline capabilities/Software.

Second where do you control the depth of the text? Two places will control the depth that I know of. 1) make your text bold, 2) select a 60 degree bit instead of a 90 degree bit.

Life with just a capital L would be fine.
I just wanted to raise all the text to be more centered on the plaque.
What software is required to do centerline text. I have Autocad, CoreDraw 3,
Adobe photoshop and Macromedia. Will any of these work?

dustyshp,

Try the attached file for your John Wayne plaque. The centerline software from Carvewright is to be released soon, I have heard.

"Your" should be "You're" in this case though.

I did not pick up on that, I wonder why? Anyone out there called CW to see why it is no longer on their store?

Just go off the phone with the fine folks at CW. They are still working out the bugs for the centerline program. I asked why they took it down from the store, and they said that it was put up to let us know they are going to have it avaliable. Sounds like they got a lot of calls concerning it. So we will just have to be patient.

Thanks for the update for those wanting to try using centerline an old version is discussed in this thread (http://carvewright.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3590&highlight=Centerline)
I hope the new design software CW makes has more features not less. ;)
