Got my first carve done, spent the whole day preparing, reading and performing system checks. The carve went fine, no problems. Used the new lube procedure calling for the moly based lubricant and allowed the shaft to dry. Problem is some of the moly eventually worked its way down and out of the flex shaft but I dont know if it made it to the cutting head bearings. Will the moly damage the bearings? If you think about this logically: saturated flex shaft, centrifugal force, vibrations, gravity and the viscosity of the oil allowing it to spread and coat the piece - no matter how careful you are, the moly will eventually get to the bearings.
