Locking a group

I have created a rectangle with several object in it, each brought in seperately to create a pattern. I am trying to lock them all in together so I can move them around on the board as a group. Is there a way to do that? I have used the group feature but it only locks in the cutout area with the texture but not the medalions that I have added.

I know you can draw a selection box around everything and it all will be selected. Someone may have a better way you are looking for.

Hold control, left click your mouse on each object you want to move when you get them all selected leave off the control button (all objects will have a square or rectangle around them) and move your mouse over one of the objects the arrow will change to a 4 arrow square left click and hold you then can move all the objects where you like
