Here is my first try at the jewelry box, need to work on the proportions but turned out ok. I am going to antique the box with white paint and glaze it with black glazing.

Hello Rick,
From what I can see it's a very nice job, well done http://www.carvewright.com/forum3/images/icons/icon14.gif

Super job Rick.
How deep was it carved?

It was cut only .35 deep at the centerline of the texture. It has 3/8" feathering all around and when I cut the sides at a 45 deg angle it let the sides come together like it did for a really nice effect. I am not happy with the proportions, I think it is a little to tall but I will work on that. There is a theory about proportions, I think it is a variable of 1.6, width times 1.6 should be the length, width divided by 1.6 equals the height. If done right it makes a pleasing look.

I as well critique my own work more then I should I guess. But I think you did an outstanding job with it. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif
