Odd Help needed

Well I have been away from here for quite awhile. But I still have my carvewright that is now about 14 years old not really sure I forgot
But anyway I have a question that I know someone here will be able to answer. And do not judge I know I should know these things but I was a welder more than a remodeler. So here is the question. When they build a house 100 years ago is the header above a door the same thickness as the header above a window? So if they used 2 X 8s above the door would they have used a 2 X 8 above the window? The reason I ask is I am working on my kitchen and I want to close off a door and put it where a window is now. Hope that makes sense.

My house is 120 yrs old and the headers I have exposed so far are all the same. But I wouldn't take that as a standard, due to the difference/lack of building codes in different regions that long ago. One issue is all the lumber in my house is 2X? rough cut which makes it a full 2" thick so any new doors or windows aren't built thick enough to be a match for the wall thickness.
Add in plaster and lathe and the wall suddenly gets thicker. Some interior walls were built with the 2x turned sideways to save space thereby not thick enough for regular electric boxes.

I have seen 2 x 8's for Doors and 2 x 4's for Windows..... And if a sliding glass wide door... 2 x 10's...
