Carve through pattern

I am thinking about buying the eagle pattern from the store, but can't figure out how to get the middle pieces to carve through leaving nothing there. Is this a setting I'm not finding? 87732

What does it look like if you click the pierced setting?

1. You can use pierced to get a carve through.

2. You can use outline pattern and then apply a cut path to cut out specific parts of the pattern.

3. Or you can just apply a carve region around the pattern to show off the empty spots. (You can also apply a carve region to an outlined part)
