View Full Version : Z trips GFCI?

Took me while to figure it out. Firing up C machine and B machine at the same time. C machine was carving and B was finding the bit. When it touches the bit plate the GFCI trips. Tried a different circuit, same result. When C machine is finished, I will try running the B by itself. What could cause this. Don't want to replace the Z motor if that isn't the problem. I just replaced the cut motor on this machine at 1919 hours.

Is your GFCI are hard wired receptacle or on on a outlet strip?

Is your dust collector running when it happens? IF yes, you need to ground your machine to the ground of the dust collector.

OR this could be a wire touching metal like one of the board sensor wires....

Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI) do not work well with digital electronics. I learned that when I bought my digital variable speed lathe. They work okay on regular power tools but for household use they are generally used on circuits where there is water nearby; eg. bathrooms, kitchens, water sprinkler systems, etc.
