Has anyone done the 500 hour service. Carvewright now sells the service package and I'd love to get it. Just not sure I could perform the task necessary. Does a step by step video come with it or at least printed instructions?

I was curious about the Maintenance Kits... I found that they have a 250 and a 500 hour kit.

And to answer your question... Here is a list of maintenance items that has the PDF HOW TO DO with it... So here are your answers.

Some surprises with both kits is that they are selling you the "Y" Gearbox and Motor. This can then explain to ME why they resistance to sell the $6.00 "Y" Gearbox Gear/shaft we have been asking for.

The 500 hour also has the Cut Motor... I found that interesting....

So I believe that both kits have a great selection of parts that will keep your machine running well long into it's life...

Thanks Al. I'll check all this out. I'm just not as sharp as I was when young and fear tearing into my machine.

I can understand that... where are you at? Might be a Carver Near You if you run into problems.

I have had some thoughts on the 250 and 500 kits..... Even if you did a 685ZZ Bearing Change at 250 and 500 rather than changing the "Y" motor gearbox and just kept it in stock for if you had trouble later it is a WIN... As you save on Shipping. Bundled parts... Always a good thing...

Hope you figure it all out. I also live in Chester, VA and was glad learn I am not alone because the CarveWright is new to me (I've had for about 4 months) and have had a few issues the past month. Reply and I'll send you my information.

I had to replace the cut motor in my C machine because it was eating X term boards. Replacement at around 1500 hours in my B machine was a rebuild. Don't sell them now so this replacement was a new CX motor. I think the brushes don't last as long in the CX motor. This could have something to do with the cut motor in the 500 hour kit.

Glad you found someone near you. When I first started I had 3 users in the area... ChrisAlb a temporarily retired CW user doing Over the Road Trucking now was real close. We met another user in a Church Parking Lot and did a Sand Paper Belt Swap on the 3rd guy's machine. He has since also retired. WE were all NEW once....

I posted on the Facebook page too if anyone was in your area to check the forum here.

Good Luck,

As far as I know, the CX motor is exactly the same as the old motors except that the double fan was replaced by a single fan. Hence quieter. A little less load?

Any chance LHR is having a problem with the Brush supplier and the brushes are softer and wearing out sooner...? Traditionally we got 250 cut hours... What it the current on the brushes lasting in the CX?

Al , we have had some brushes that were terrible, I noticed the carbon dust in the dust collector bag right away. This was some time ago and if I remember right CarveWright did say something about it. I usually order brushes 10 sets at a time so I may run into some more if I haven't rotated through them.
