Help with cutouts please.

Hello,

I have done a lot of carving. But for the first time, I need to cut out flat shapes.

I have patterns on 8.5 x 11 paper. I have scanned and saved them as JPG files.

I want to have carvewright cut these pieces out of 1/8" stock.

I have imported one of these files into Designer. How do I get Designer to recognize and create cut paths for the shapes rather than the 8.5 x 11 rectangle that is the entire page?

P.S. You will either have to use a jig or attach it to thicker stock. The minimum stock you can use on the machine is .5".

I was mistaken in the video when I stated one could use manual tabs on a bit assignment that goes all the way through the board. The manual tabs tool will only work on "pierced" projects. Even if one places small carve regions over the cut line the assigned bit will cut through them since it will be the last thing that is done. The best way to use a cut out like this is to use the "Cutout" tool. Then the tabs are automatically placed and used. If a bit assignment is used, one will have to use another way to secure the part being cut out using screws, double sided tape, etc. or assign the bit to a depth will not quite cut all the way through the board. However, it is possible to get a little creative with the "Rout Tool" to create tabs. The only problem is that the "Outline Pattern" tool does not create a true vector so one cannot insert vertices.
