View Full Version : Carving out letters at the top of a board

I am working on this growth chart for someone and they have asked that the child's name, in this case Cody be where they letters are half on the board and the top half cut so just the letters extended beyond the top edge of the board with no pther wood around them (I hope I'm making sense). Can someone help me out with the best way to go about making this happen. mpc is attached Thanks! Charlie

I pretty much followed the steps that I posted in Dian's link. Made a few adjustments but I think you can figure it out from the example. After selecting the name and the rectangle I outlined them together using the "Outline Patterns" tool then deleted the rectangle. Also, be sure to use an actual board that is a little wider than the project board for the tracking roller and cutout.

Very cool project!! One suggestion on your football, golf, and basketball patterns, set bit optimization to "best" It will pop them out nicely.

I would not do the outline around the whole board. Better, I think, just to cut off the end around the letters. Something like:
