I've been debating on upgrading to Pro from basic, if nothing else, just to be able to use the 1/32" bit for more detailed carvings.

Does anyone have any examples of some fairly detailed carvings that they've done with both the 1/16" bit and the 1/32" bit? Interested to see if there is significant difference between them.

Thanks!

I don't have any examples to post for comparison readily available but I find a tremendous difference with lithophanes. If I find a comparison example I will post it.

The CW learning Guide has a comparison on page 131.

lithopane I have not done before, but I am going to try it. I ordered 1/2" thick material. Its actually white translucent plexiglass. I was setting depth of cut at 1/4" to allow more light through. anyone know how this cuts and carves. the comapny http://www.estreetplastics.com/ seems to have a wide selection.

It should carve okay. Since it is translucent you might be good at 1/4" depth on 1/2" material. They seem to have fairly good costs on the material. Let us know how it works out.
