cutting out letters

Do you have to have a jig of some kind to cut letters on 1/4 in material. New to carvewright. live in Red Oak, Texas.

For any material less the 1/2" thick you do need a sled/carrier board/jig. There is a tips and tricks on these. Look in the online section for the tips and tricks.
