Carving Star w/ 60 Deg V-Bit

Is it possible to carve a star (recessed into the wood) with the 60 deg. V-Bit, to get nice, sharp edges? Not just an outline, but the entire star carved out.

Running Designer Basic, and carved an apx. 1" dia. star recently with the 1/16" carving bit. Edges were just a little too rounded for my liking. Would like to get a nice, sharp edge if possible.

One option would be to use the V bit to clean up the edges after it is carved with the 1/16" bit.

I haven't tried this so don't know if it works but I laid out some straight lines from a center point. Assigned 60 degree bit and then used select depth profile for each line separately ensuring the profile was in the correct direction.

There are several methods:

Draw a star. Make sure it is a closed shape.
Make it into a carve-region
Adjust depth as needed

Set the depth
Invert

If you have Centerline Text, use the star from the Wingdings font. For a 1" star, use the 90 degree bit. My .6" star for the Johnsons was done with the 60 degree bit. Changing it to 1" leaves an artifact in the center with the 60 degree bit (large star on the left). Looks better with the 90 degree bit (right).

Use the Windows Accessories - Character Map to cut and paste:

Open Windows Accessories - Character map. Select the Wingdings font. Click on the star. Copy and paste to Designer. See the screen shot in my previous post.
