I have been in contact with a custom tool maker to make a 1/16" tapered ballnose 1" LOC 1/4" shank, 2.5" overall length, and an 1/8" straight, 1" LOC, 1/4" shank. These are made from micrograin carbide.

The 1/8" bits would be $30 plus shipping.
The 1/16" bits would be $40 plus shipping.

It will take 2weeks from time of order, plus shipping time.

Those that are interested, please reply to this thread.

The 1/16" ballnose is the same as the 1/16" carving bit.

The 1/16" carving bit is available online (delivery 6-8 days) from Sears for a sale price of $26.99.

Rob,

Don't suppose your custom tool maker would be interested in making a straight 3mm bit with a 1" LOC on a 1/4" or 1/2" shank.

I am using Freud 3mm bits at the moment, but they only cut 0.31" inches deep. I could use something a little longer.

In fact, I'm not too picky about them being exactly 3mm. If he has some 1/8th inch bits that came out too small, I'll take 'em. :)

Wren,
I just started a new thread a few minutes ago to find out if there was an interest in stainless steel adapters offered in different sizes... i can also make metric ones if there is an interest... let me know...

With Sears now carrying the 1/16" and 1/8" bits, I see no reason to pursue this any further. Mods, please close this thread.
