How to use ptn. files ?

Hi,I am new here. I have a machine on order,and have been trying to get some things straight before it comes. I have the demo software,and have worked with it. I see a number of zipped files that contain ptn. extentions.
I have searched everywhere,and can not find how to use these files. When I try I just get the file format not recognized message. I am using Windows XP.

Welcome to the group. With the latest versions of the Designer program you can double click on the .ptn file and when Windows says it doesn't recognize the format select "Choose Program" and browse to C:\Program Files\Carvewright\Gui.exe. This will open the file into Designer's Import function. Once you have finished the import you will find it in the Patterns. HTH.

If you don't want to go through the bitmap import process... here is another easy way...

Right-click on the 'Favorites' word in the library, then Import pattern...
