Hello,
It is a question that I would think has a simple answer but just can figure it out:

When I import an image into Designer and bring it onto my workpiece, it comes with a carved rectangle around it.

How can I eliminate that and just carve my line art?

Thanks,

Ken

Try lowering or inverting and lowering and inverting when you import it.

What I also do is open it in paint.net which is a free program and delete the background then save it as a png file which will keep the background hidden. Then import into designer. I also often convert the image to greyscale while in paint.net and add a .2 gaussian blur which really helps to have a cleaner pattern when brought into designer.

If you're trying to let the outer border be the top of the carve and then the rectangle edges have an unwanted line around them then try this.

You can avoid unwanted machining marks around the pattern edges by applying these settings while the pattern is selected on the board:
1. Feather None
2. Bit Optimization Best
3. Height 999
