Working on a honey do project, and need to make some grooves 1/8 wide by 2 1/2 wide and 1/4 deep, using designer 3 I thought I made some but they cut 1/4 wide, I can work with the 1/4 wide, I think, but I would like to know where I did wrong on the attached mpc. Not as good on the software as I should be, but I'm learning. Any thoughts on what I should do different? Thanks Martin.

Your width difference is probably do to the diameter of the carving bit. Would just drawing a single line and assigning the 1/8" bit work? The ends would be rounded, if that matters.

I also noticed your depth is not set at 1/4".

Thanks I'll try that, the depth was incorrect on the original, I had changed it but apparently didn't save the change..... measure twice cut once again proves it's worth.

If you are trying to make a groove that is 1/8" wide by 2.5" long by 1/4" deep, all you need to do is to draw a line 2.5" long and assign the 1/8" bit to a depth of .25. Nothing else is necessary. The groove will be centered on the line and have rounded ends. That can't be avoided.
