Every once in awhile, I have the need to draw a regular polygon and I can never find the ones I have drawn before. I thought I would just spend a few hours and draw lots of them for future reference. I use the snap grid to draw them and so they are very accurate. I do not know how useful these will be to others since the curves are "owned" by me. One can, however, trace over them using the snap grid to get one's own curves.

EDIT: For owner free polygons see: http://forum.carvewright.com/showthread.php?29204-Regular-Polygons-Owner-Free&p=262592#post262592

Dan,

Why oh why do you have a need to draw polygons? Do we have to do an intervention. lol

Those are really cool. Thank you for sharing.

I have the flu and, once I started, I could not stop!

Dan,

Very useful mpc to have. I found it fascinating to copy and past selected polygons and then experiment with different tools like carve region, texture etc. Thank you for sharing.

Can you make your own patterns from them or do you get and ownership message??

I can copy. paste, save and make carve regions etc....and don't get the ownership message....is that the question?...Thanks for sharing your hard work!!

Dan, I tried to make a pattern as a test and I got the ownership message. May be an inherent limitation?

That is what I thought. Just as an experiment, try this one.

Dan, same. I simply grouped and attempted to make a pattern. Not sure if there is another way to go about it.

Ok. I was wondering when the ownership of vectors was introduced? Any old timers remember when this happened? (I was thinking that maybe an old version of Designer could be used to create ownerless vectors.)

Does anyone have Designer 1.122? I know that patterns from 1.122 have no copy protection. PM me if you have saved the old 1.122 install.

Try this one. It is from Designer 1.130.

That one worked. I was able to make a pattern from it.

Darn! I should have drawn them all in 1.130! Good to know. Thanks Oscar. I will use this in the future. Owner free vectors would be a much nicer thing to share. (Now I need four versions of Designer on my computer!!)

It would be nice if CW gave owners the ability to turn on or off ownership for things they created. It should be an owners prerogative and not forced on you. Of course if they did do this it would be in version 4.0 and cost $200. LOL

I found that the last Designer version which does not protect vectors is 1.131. I have installed it on an old laptop and so will be able generate free sharing vector shapes in the future. If anyone needs a free geometric shape, just ask!

Ok, here is another test. See if this dodecagon can be used to make a carve region pattern. (just make the perimeter a carve region, group it, and then make a pattern )

(The mpc was created in Designer 1.131)

I had no problem making the pattern.

Cool. Thanks for the test.
