Well, I've got one more to do, but it doesn't have to be done by Christmas! Some of these got finished in spite of the Carvewright. There were a litany of errors with the tray's and chair. Had a bad brush in the cut motor that resulted in a broken carving bit. After ordering replacement brushes (of course I'd just ordered bits from CW a month ago, but didn't order brushes 'cause I thought that I had a set!) it carved the general region and the graphics, but wouldn't carve the letters. It would air carve about 1/4" over the wood. So I resorted to the old fashioned method for the lettering on the trays and chair and did all the cut outs on the trays with band saw and jig saw.

(I don't know why some of these posted sideways--they were right side up on my computer...and I'm too lazy to try and figure it out!)

Merry Christmas to you all!

Some beautiful projects, the recipients should be very happy. Sounds like you had some hiccups but glad it's all worked out and you're
all ready.
Really like the ornaments(am assuming that is what they are).

You deserve a large cup of cheer and a pat on the back for getting all those Christmas projects finished in time for Christmas.

Wow Nice work. The chair looks great.Did you do the joint work with the CW would love to be able to use the CW for making joints instead of pocket holes.

No, the CW only did the back--it started as a 2" blank and was a 2 sided carve to carve the curve and elephant--I had to hand carve the letters. The joinery--mortise and tenon--was done with a hollow chisel mortiser and table saw. I don't see any reason that you couldn't carve the mortises with the CW--it's just faster for me to use other tools--but tenons would be very time consuming!

Thanks for all the comments. It was fun, even with the machine issues. Besides, it gave me a chance to exercise my mallet and chisel letter carving skills!

Merry Christmas all!

The last of the Christmas presents for this year. I bought my Harley riding buddy a share of Harley stock for Christmas and made a frame that highlighted some of our destinations/experiences. The keepsake box is for a relative--dad created the artwork for the top of his daughters walnut box.

Thanks Dale. Frame was painted with flat black spray paint. Graphics were highlighted with Rub'n Buff and I added a red pinstripe using RC model tape. Covered it all with Matte clear spray paint. His bike is satin black with red pinstriping so I was trying to echo that look.

Thanks Oscar, having some 40 year old Walnut to work with helps!
