Thanks to Alan for making the paint pallet pattern for me and I believe it is mtylerfl for the oak pattern from the pattern depot.

Thanks for the patterns you produce.

Two very unique projects. Yes, we have some very talented people, that produce patterns, allowing the rest of us to produce great works of art.... like your two projects.

Thanks all.
But how do you all get the scratch marks left by the bit when carving it out?
If you look close at the letters you will see the lines. I got most out but some are still there.

John, I believe it indicates that there is a little slop in the Z travel. Try re-tensioning the nut on top and spraying WD40 in the sprocket.
I also have a small square of scotch bright sponge that I saturate with WD40, and every 4 or 5 hrs, I scuff off any pitch that has built up on the rails that the head might hang up on. They never go completely away, but are much more manageable.

Is it the part #130

Were the lines on the top or the sides of the letters?

Yup, 130. We loosen it and retighten.

It mainly was on the flat between letters , you can see it better in this one.

Also check for saw dust in the compression roller ends, Z belt and pulley , under the drive belts, out feed trays set to high.

I need to check the out feed trays, I was having a issue with losing traction and raised the table up a little. that may also be a problem. I even changed the oring and still had issue ended up taking the tape off the backside and problem stopped.Never went back to the trays.

Could you tell me how I should reset the table? Level with the feed belts or a little above them?

Never have the trays above the belts. I very seldom do long board carves so I have my trays lowered just below the board surface.

Just picked this tip up on another forum, It could be bit flexing do to the depth of the carve. The bit tip could be being pushed/flexed away from the center point and on the return path it does not match up with the pass before it. Not sure how deep you were going but oak is a hard wood.
