81866 I love carving this cross and finishing it.
Going to carve another and use weathered gray stain and
then a black stain and as a glaze effect.
Cross is 13" tall and 9.5 wide finished with Summer Oak and matte
finish. rubbed down with 4-0 steel wool.

This a is for a 78 year old friend of mines aunt
whom is visiting from Peru at this time. Will give it to her today.

I love that pattern and I think it is one pattern that most of us like to carve. Great carving and great story Robert.

81870Here is a photo taken yesterday when I give her the cross.

One of the flue times I am with the receiver of the carving.

I could carve this Cross a 100 times over and never tire of it.
It has much to say.

Great job as always. I have made several hundred of those and never tire of it. The wood always makes them different.
I have made one 2' x 3' and several 18' x 24" from eastern cedar.

This is a favorite of mine also. Thanks for describing your technique. Very nice work.

What thickness wood did you use?

Don, I used 3/4" #2 pine
Normally I use just selection pine.
Happen to be I had none on hand that size,
so I found this piece so there I went.

I have another cross I am going to carve that is going
to be larger with a two tone stain and I will post that.

Thank you all for your kind words.

The Cross shell live on for ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
