While replying to a motor related Carvewright problem today I got an idea for a project. There is a simple to build and fun to play with motor being passed around the internet that runs on almost nothing! The STL files were posted on Thingiverse so people could print out the parts using a 3D printer and then wind on the coils and assemble the parts into devices that make people stop and watch. I looked the files over and thought how nice it would look carved out of wood.

While most of the parts can be simply cut out, if you want to make it all out of wood your going to have to slice up a few parts or your going to need the rotary tool based on Ed's design for the round bits.

If nothing else I'm sure you will enjoy the read, here's the link: http://laserhacker.com/?p=214

And here's a more direct link to the STL files: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:644938/#files
