So my wife said it best in her Facebook post:

"So my husband, Frederick, likes to do woodworking as a hobby. He makes all sorts of cool things and especially some nifty wooden jewellery boxes. But really... how many boxes do you really need? So I see that gleam in his eye and I know he is out to the workshop to make something else. So I said, "Please, no more wooden boxes!" So he made me a wooden purse. A light went on above my head. "You can make wooden clothing???" Awesome!! Make me MORE purses please! (He made me three different ones) And then he came up with these cool wooden clock belts. (He made me three different ones). And then he said "How about a wooden bra?". I looked at him like maybe it was time to have him psychologically evaluated. "Oh... like two coconuts?" No way, he said with a smile. Just wait for this! So this is what he came up with. Carved from maple and walnut, held together with fishing line, it definitely is a pretty different bra! But I draw the line at wooden underwear! It just shows what you can come up with when you think outside the box. Any ideas on other clothing or accessories made from unconventional material? BTW, if you ask your hubby to do this, you can expect to also be spending a lot of time helping with sanding, finishing and all sorts of other work. Not fun for me, but when it comes to fashion, a woman has to do what a woman has to do!"

You do not post often, but when you do...you give new meaning to the phrase "thinking out of the box". Very creative and it looks like you really are having fun!

Here is my South Coast Topper I made a while ago. Very wearable. It weighs only 14 ounces. Just 2 ounces more than my silk opera hat.

Carved from a 200 year old timber in Prescott Ontario, on the South Coast of Canada

...and, of course, if you are wearing a vintage wooden top hat you should accessorize with a bamboo bow tie

...also made on the carvewright

That's what we're here for to share! Let me know if you need any more photos or info. Maybe others could also submit "carved wearables". Sounds like fun!

Yes, any other photos you guys have would be great. I've downloaded and cataloged what you've already posted and have been searching for other examples of clothing and fashion accessories. I'd love to see any more of this type of thing if anyone has it. I remember some carved walking canes from awhile back. I'm trying to find good photos of those too.

This is a S t r e t c h... But my Accountability Boards AND Tags are an "Accessory" worn by our finest Firefighters... This Slotted Version has a Strap that hangs around the Firemen's Neck. The Board is used to Control and Assign Firefighters.

Couldn't make either without the CW...

Carved necklaces, bracelets and belt buckles.

I don't have any yet, but "jewelry" has been on my "project idea list" for a couple years now. Don't be surprised if you see some this year. This thread has been quite inspiring!

I think you missed out by not putting the wood bra! That was my favorite.

Thanks jlovchik for the blog article and to all others for the compliments on my South Coast Topper top hats.

I take commissions for them if anyone is interested.
With the CW abilities I can make the "opening" fit any head perfectly.
Truly a custom wearable.

While thinking about other possibilities for wearables I remembered a costume piece I had made with the CW a few summers ago. For a downtown event called Treasurefest we wanted to have a live mermaid. As it turns out you can buy mermaid tails online but the good ones are many hundreds and even thousands to buy. Enter the Carvewright.

First carved a mold for the tail...

then filled it twice with clear silicone to make two half "flippers". Glued the two back to back with a mesh liner woven into a pair of sneakers sized for our mermaid model. Painted them up and voila...

Add one very attractive and cooperative helper and we had a live mermaid complete with a realistic flipping flipper. The kids (and adults) loved her.

Not a practical wearable but she did wear it all day.

The Top Hat and Bow Tie are awesome. I was thinking of something like that, but you have hit a home run sir.
I was in my woodshop the other day and thought of trying to make a neck tie out of wood because I remembered seeing someone with one a few years ago so........... here's my prototype. I still have a way to go on tweaking it out. So far a few people have seen it and I've received more "good" responses than "bad" ones. Ha Ha One guy called it a "N.C." tie..... "No Class" tie. LOL

Thank you chebytrk (http://forum.carvewright.com/member.php?6076-chebytrk).

All this brainstorming about wearable carvings reminded me of a project I started but never finished. I designed it and uploaded to the CW card but never got around to carving it.

So...today is the day...

Here is the first prototype.

Needs some more tweaking and then will carve out of 1/4 inch bamboo panels...

to make custom...

wearable...
