Can someone tell me why the lithopane from a photo is so much better than the lithopane from a scanned photo? First picture is the scanned photo litho that is 614 X 513 pixels. Second is the digital photo litho that is 597 X 514 pixels.

If you still have the two mpcs, check the height and see if they are both 400 or so.

Thank you for responding. The height is the same, 400, for both. The scanned though with almost the same pixel count is not as sharp nor does it have the contrast. The pictures both look quite the same but the lithos don't.

Lithos can get a bit touchy when i comes to contrast. You have probably learned a good lesson that we each will learn in time.
I usually fuss with the contrast/brightness settings on the gray scale image until I like what I see.

A good idea but doesn't work when one receives a photo from someone else. Especially those taken with smart phones which are most of those received. No one uses a camera anymore.

When I wrote about adjusting the contrast/brightness above, I was using PhotoShop or another editor. What you are using has to be digital at some point.

Thank you! I will have to learn how to use this program and then how to modify pictures and scans to produce great lithopanes.
