It took me a whole day to come up with a design for this project and another day to finish it. The kit was ordered from the Woodcraft website. At first it seemed a little top heavy but after finishing it...well it's still a little top heavy but it sure came out nice. I'll probably make a couple more for Christmas presents.
The blank is a glue-up of several different kinds of wood and then cut diagonally at about a 30 degree angle to make a 3" square about 7" long. I used my lathe to bore the 1.75" hole almost all the way through and then used the lathe again to cut a plug to fit in the open end so it would mount in the Carvewright's rotary jig.

Very nice Steve, maybe if its top heavy you need to make a holder for it to keep it on the counter...LOL

Very nice, I could see using the rotary jig to carve some nice designs or text into something like this. Interesting you used the rotary jig when you have a lathe.

This would be an easy turn on the lathe and the duplicator would insure that all of the subsequent ones would be exactly the same but on the next one I plan to use a name or pattern so this gives me a starting point.

The kit is not all that expensive.

I think they were about $16.00. However, their website did say it was a clearance sale. Here is the link.
