Bit height above collet

On a C machine, does anyone know how far above the collet a bit can be? Standard bits are about an 1/8... can it go 1/2?

I do not think it matters. Go up until it hits and then come down a little. Just make sure that the bit can make it down as deep as you want it to go into the board before the z truck bottoms out.

I was feeling a little unwanted :) I found some bits, but the overall is 3". Wasn't sure if it would clear whatever is up above the collet. Need to find my dental mirror and take a gander.

1/2" only goes up about 1". 1/4" goes way up. It might even make it to the end of the flex core. You will have no problem with 3" , 1/4" bits.
