This is the second box I built for a customer. Her granddad built her one when she was a young child and she wanted one for her first grandchild and had me build it last year. She liked it a lot and sent me a note a few months ago and wanted another one just like the first, but for her second grandson who had been born a little earlier this year. I delivered the second box Sunday in time for a shower the family was having for the second grandson. Both grandchildren were there and the boxes ended up side by side. I had a lot of fun designing the box and incorporating the footprints for each grandson. Grandmother said getting the prints wasn't easy but she really like how they look on the box. It is made of walnut and is sized to hold actual newspapers and the like, accounting for their accomplishments as the years go by. Fun project that made my customer happy. In fact she said not to be surprised if I hear from her in the near future. Must be something in the water there :) ....

That is nice lot of time there to build it

Thanks, Henry. It was about a 10 hour carve on "Best" and a couple of hours to fit and join together. My bride does all the finishing on our projects and she probably had 3 hours into that part.

Thx, Connie. I really appreciate it. I have built things out of wood for over 30 years, but the last 4 with my CarveWrights have been the most fun. It has opened up a whole new area of possibilities...
