I'm working on a couple of designs, but none have come out completely right yet. I also am not trying that hard right now, but intend to have some out by May 1.

I've made several different ones using the one that Yenne posted way back. Just take each element off and change them keeping the dimensions the same. Carve away! :)

I used a box from Michaels and some artwork from Vector 3D. I carved a piece of pine (standard thickness) and then cut the piece to fit the top of the box.

I removed about 3/8" from the bottom of the carving and glued it to the box. A piece of 8" pine fits perfectly on one of their boxes and it looks like it was made for it.

Since we're talking about boxes, has anyone ever posted files for the lion box? Thats the one I'm dying to get my paws on <g>

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks guys!

Hey Julie, you must have very small lions in Michigan if you can keep them in a box.

Most cats here in Michigan are small, but some can hear exceptionally well http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Here is a photo of the box from Michaels that I modified. The cost of the box was $1.99 on sale.

Just curious, what are the boxes from Michaels that you are talking about? Sounds like an inexpensive basic box that would be great to use as a starter on a project. Where do you find them?

Michaels is a craft store chain around the country.
They have unfinished projects you can buy and complete or finish any way you want.
A lot of craft stores have them.

Why not use a sled and carve the box itself?

Cause here in Michigan, the snows almost all gone now !! Hard to use a sled

Hi Barb
I’m a displaced yooper myself from Calumet in the Keweenaw Peninsula.
Up there had 10 months of winter, and 2 months of poor sledding.
By the way my wife's names is Barb --- so I’ve had 35 years of Barbie and Ken
:p

You guys kill me I just love this board!!!

Seriously though is there any one who's done the lion box? I'd love to find out more about it I've tried and failed miserably to get it.

Is there anyone out there who's done it?

Thanks bunches.

I found them in the wood craft area. The had a variety of sizes and at times have a 50%off sale. This box was a little more that 50% off and it was a great starter item.

Hey I am a former Yooper east ender. cool eh?
we had 2 seasons, swatting and shoveling.
I loved summers in the UP the best 4 days of the year!

I hope to use up my scrap to make some boxes.
