View Full Version : False "too deep to be carved"error

I'm carving centerline text on a .25" board loaded into a sled. It worked fine with a V60 but when I switch to a V90 it gives me the carving too deep error. The depth is nowhere near being close to being too deep for the board yet it still gives me the error and won't let me load the design on to the card. The silly thing is that the V60 actually carves deeper than the V90. I'd stick with the V60 but the bit tip got rounded over and I don't want to wait for a new V60 bit. I would try to make the board thicker in designer, however I am doing a cut out with 1/16" bit and it can't do anything thicker than 1/4". Is there any way to work around this software bug?

I have not pinpointed it yet but when you change centerline bit size I get the same thing. I copied the text, then deleted it and selected text and added right back, pasted and applied the correct bit and it worked.

That seems to be a bug. It only happens for the change from 60 to 90 on boards less than 0.35" thick. I think if you change from centerline to raster and back it will fix. I will report it as a bug.

Thanks. This did the trick.

I had a call about this same thing a couple of days ago. After having him exit and restart designer it worked correctly.

I played with it for quite awhile. It is a bug. It only happens on thin boards if you change from 60 to 90. Try it. In the mpc, change the bit to 90 and try to upload.

I will have to double check on what his board thickness was, seems like he said 1/2" but not sure.

It was .25" thickness. Switching to raster and back fixed it for me. I haven't seen it on thicker boards.
