Hello,

The Washboard Spoon Holder project is styled after an antique washboard and makes a handy wall mounted receptacle to conveniently hold four wooden spoons. The name text can be customized for your own family surname, as well as the year when your household was established!

The overall dimensions are: 9.5" wide x 15.25" tall x 2" deep.

Main items you will need:
1) The Project Files (included):
• Washboard_Spoon_Holder.mpc

2) Boards with the following dimensions:
Washboard mpc: 0.75" x 11" x 21"
Two Lengths of 1x2: 0.75" x 1.5" x 14.5"
One Length of 1x2: 0.75" x 1.5" x 9.5"
One Length of 1x2: 0.75" x 1.5" x 8"

Do not use boards that are smaller than specified above unless using an appropriate jig. Larger boards are fine in all cases.

3) 1x2 (nominal) lumber strips (lengths shown above), #6 x 1" and #6 x 0.5" wood screws, drill and bits, sandpaper, clamps, wood glue, stain and/or paint and clear finish

4) A Dremel-type rotary tool with assorted sanding wheels and bits to sand small details and speed up preparation for finishing.

Apply your choice of finish. Here’s what I used:

• Sculpt Nouveau Silver B metallic paint on the "washboard" (you can use any silver paint you want)
• Rust Oleum Ultimate Stain - American Walnut
• Several coats Krylon Clear Acrylic spray overall

I second the notion! Great project- very original. I think it'll be a hit here in New Orleans. Many a Cajun folk use wash boards as musical instruments and is big in their culture. You'll see them at one of the many festivals and parades that happen here year round.- a little history lesson a frottoir (from Cajun French "frotter", to rub) is/was used for percussion and rhythm. Big in jazz and zydeco music, played by tapping and scraping the washboard with thimbles. I'm sure Perry will chime in and will LOVE it. Keep up the great work!

Thank you all for the compliments and encouragement!

To All,

We have had a small programming issue with the POM and are working hard to get it sorted out. The techs are going to run some in-house tests tomorrow (May 6) and get back to me. If we can't get it nailed tomorrow, I'll likely need to create an alternate POM other than what was initially planned. I am very sorry for the delay...we want to be sure everything is 'perfect' before public release. (or as perfect as humanly possible :) )

UPDATE: The files for the MAY 2015 POM have just been sent to LHR/CarveWright. Probably too late for distribution today, though. The techs that did the testing gave the "all clear", so we're good to go!

Again, I'm very sorry for the delay. I'll post a project preview later tonight after I recover from all the added stress. ;)
