Wanted to share some work I did awhile back, carved out of pine. Finished in reactive bronze and copper paint.

Excellent work. Like your design of the plaques but it is the finish that sets it off.

That is Beautiful. Can you tell us what brand of paint you used and did you use patina or anything like that to get the finish?

Very nice! Can you describe your technique for applying the paint?

Its pretty simple really. After carving and sanding I hit the signs with my sandblaster to give them that grainy look and feel to them. Then I apply the primer, buff that down and then apply the first coat of bronze reactive paint. On the second coat I quickly spray on an acid spray and let it sit. when it starts to dry the chemical action begins to oxidize the metal in the paint. Once that is done I give it a quick buff again with a soft cloth to remove any powder left over from the acid. I then take a small rag and dip the end of it in copper paint and buff all of the raised areas, thats it! really simple process.

They look great, and thanks for describing the technique for applying the finish. Where do you buy that paint is a common Menards/Home depot product?

Several of the Projects of the Month use metallic finishes. Some are finished with my favorite sculptnouveau.com products (which are similar to Modern Masters but have a much higher metal powder content - as much as 400% more metal). The Sculpt Nouveau products also feature reactive acid patinas, dyes, waxes, UV resistant clear coatings and so on. You can view the project PDF's without purchasing the actual project by downloading the "Try Before You Buy" materials, free of charge. You may find it interesting to read the finishing section of some of these project PDF's to learn more about applying metallic finishes and techniques.

The first four project links in the following list use the Sculpt Nouveau products. The last three links use rattle can metallic paints and glazing techniques. I hope you enjoy doing some metallic finishing on your own - it is a lot of fun!
