Can not remember how but i need to merge the circle and rectangle together so when it is cut out the circle and rectangle are cut out as one.

The rectangle will be like a foot for the circle to sit on.
Making a steady rest for the lathe.

Just use an arc and connected lines. Forget using a circle, it cannot be broken.

thanks.
Is there any way to have a square rotate to a specific angle?
The angle box will not let you define a set angle? it stays unselectable.

I think only lines can be rotated. You can make a rotated box with rotated lines.

I made the box with the rotated angle, but it wont let me do a carve region, I want the box to be a 3/8" deep.

I'm not sure what you are trying to make, but if you are trying to make a circle on a stand; as a cutout. Make the circle and square a "Carve Region" - this makes it a PTN file. You can then merge them together and make your outline. You can save that as a new pattern. To get rid of the circle and square - delete it or set the depth to zero.

Make sure the box is closed. One or more of the vertices are not connected. Dragging a vertex onto another will connect them. A red cross will appear.

what I am going to make is a version of the attached steady rest.

line was broken. Thanks for the help.

Are you using the snap grid? It is the best way to make an accurate layout.

Don't think I did when drawing the square on the angle.

Another question when using the 3/16 cutting bit to cut the parts out.
Is it better to step down .125 per pass or do a staright 3/4 cut out?
Using oak plywood and MDF.

You can cut deeper than 1/8". I would go at least 1/4" with the 3/16" bit. There is little chance of breaking it even on a full depth cut, but, I like to minimize the chance of x tracking error by cutting with less force and vibration.

The snap grid is your friend! I tweaked your layout by snapping the vertices to a 1/4" grid. I may have made somethings the wrong size but it is now a symmetric shape.

Thanks
Hopefully i will have pictures of it put together tomorrow. Need to pick up some hardware in the morning.
I will do the .25" depth on the next cut out.

Thanks for your help again.
