I uploaded the same file twice, once with the 1/16" bit and once with the 1/32" bit. My assumption was that the cut time would be significantly longer. On a 2 1/2 hour cut, the difference was only 8 minutes. Does this sound proper?

I'm only going to say this, because some people get it confused. The 1/32" is a carving bit; not a cutting bit. I know, you know, jkbogi, but others may not.

At what setting, Normal, Best, or Optimal?

8 minute difference on 2.5 hours at normal. 10 minute difference on 3.5 hours at best and 9 minute difference on 5.75 hours at optimal.

Inquiring minds want to know . . . . . What was the difference in carve quality? A little better, a lot better?

Any difference in time would depend on what the software is doing. If I'm not mistaken, the machine is only capable of going down to .005 passes which is what it previously did on optimal. So there is nothing that can really be done to slow the carve down other than a slower feed rate. I'd suspect that the only change needed to the software was to render the display properly for the new bit.
