All,

As business is going crazy with the three area bases, I HAVE to buy a second machine.

My spousal commander, (you know, do not confuse my rank with her authority) has granted me carte blanche to move forward on this.

Now, what I have in mind is a new CX, Rotary Jig, Designer 3, and the long carve bits.

Any other suggestions that you all would recommend, and I can justify?

Flying...

You are probably gonna want the stl importer if you are getting the rotary jig.

Brent,

I'm crossing a new threshold here. Educate me on what the STL software does, and why? Being honest, I've never used anything more than designer 1.187 and pattern editor.

It will allow you to import 3d models into the designer to carve on the rotary or to slice and carve larger ones in sections to glue up.
You should check out the tutorials on it to give you a better idea.
There are a ton of 3d models out there for free. 3d printer use stl files and many will import directly into designer.

Here is a good article too to show you what it does.

Can you send that green light south? I would love to see your shop and setup.

Wow, looks like a smaller less cluttered version of mine. I've been de-cluttering for a week and still got someone coming today to haul another truckload of scrap off.
I don't see your CW. I have mine on rolling carts from Harbor freight with a small dust collector attached to each so they can roll anywhere in the shop.
It makes it nice to be able to move the whole system.

His CW is just to the right of the pole in the first photo.

I saw it right after I posted. Thanks. Almost like a where's Waldo.

That sounds familiar! LOL
I have both of mine setup like this.

If you find a 3D object that would make a good rotary carve in a format other than STL, import into Blender then export it as STL. STL is a must have for rotary carving.

Great shop setup just don't build that sailboat in the basement and have to cut out a wall to get it out.
One day soon within the next few years I plan on expanding outside my 10x10 space. lol
