So my machine was dragging a little on the y axis, only going to the right. It would bind and catch going to touch the bit plate. I figured it was the truck bearings, and I was partly right. I replaced the bottom bearings as they were a little sticky, but not frozen solid. The top bearings were fine, spinning freely. The new rails are clean and free of pitch and packed dust. The truck moves freely on the rails with the belt off. When I install the belt it fetches up again only going to the right. I checked the tensioner also and that was sticky but not frozen solid. I also took that apart, cleaned and dry lubed it so it spins freely. So I am assuming the y motor needs to be replaced. I have read here that the shaft and bearings wear out leading to this problem. With almost 300 cut motor hours its probably the problem. I am just looking for confirmation from more powerful minds than I. Thanks in advance.

At 300 hours, you should certainly check the Y gear bearings. (With the belt off, wiggle the shaft.)

The cut motor wires in the top back right corner of the machine can interfere with the movement of the carriage at the bit plate. The back of the z motor can hit the wires. Make sure that is not the problem.

Good idea but I know its not the wires, I don't have a top on the machine.

So I took the y gearbox off and it does have some drag. It has some sawdust and grease packed in it. So between the sawdust, grease and worn parts Im pretty sure I found my problem.

How are the bearings? You should inspect them and the shaft closely. The shaft can spin in a frozen bearing. Take the white gear out and have a good look. You should probability replace the bearings in any case.

I think I'll just replace the whole motor, I think I had encoder problems a little while ago.

Sometimes the two gear box bolts can bind and impede its movement. And had been said before, the cut motor wires also can impede movement.

The new y motor cured the problem. With that, a new board sensor and a good cleaning, my machine is running like new.

All ya needed were some RC car bearings ... Also Dan has a upgraded housing on the forum somewhere for those bearings and things ...

Its just quicker and easier to order a new motor.
