Tilting a pattern

I needed to place the "Open Book" pattern on the front edge of a domed box lid so it had to be tilted toward the front. First I tried outlining the pattern, making it a carved area and tilting it using the tilt tool with the pattern additive. The details of the pattern totally washed out. Then I tried just tilting the pattern - still washed out. Solution - outline the pattern and make it a carved area. Group the pattern and carved area. Extrude the carved area horizontally with a straight line and make the pattern additive. Adjust the depth by sliding the extrude up and down and by lowering the height of the dome.

Adding text to the book or scrolls is where the edit the envelope really shines!
