7233772336I was asked if I could help fix a chair that got broken. I fixed one part successfully which had a clean break and it was just a matter of gluing and clamping. Now they want me to fix another part and I don't know how. My idea is to sand it smooth with some wood putty in the crack and then stain it. Anybody have any ideas? Also does anyone have an idea what the stain color is?

Thank you
Ambrose Stapleton

I have some minwax pecan stain that when you put it on oak looks pretty close to that color.

To fix Cracks or Splits use wood glue and compressed air to blow glue into the crack as deep as you can . Clamp and use putty on the out side. You can add a little stain to the putty . Light sanding and clear coat finish . Have done this for years.

Thank you Dave and Roger the advice helps a lot. I'm not much of a wood worker so I really appreciate the advice. I have pecan as well and will try that. Thanks again.

Ambrose.
