I have a request for a chess knight and an having troubles finding a good one. I will be carving it oversize size the girl friend's name on the base. I like the one in the rotary jig demo. Where/how can I obtain that one, of does someone have another good one. I do have STL converter.
Thanks
Clint

The build blog doesn't include the chess pieces. I'm guessing that's because he got them from thingverse. I also found some here you might want to try downloading:

Here is one I grabbed from the 123d location. The rotary jig won't do under the chin so you will have to finish that part yourself.

Thank you. That is a web site I didn't know about.

You're welcome. The 123d stuff is pretty cool in addition to the library of objects. It is growing so fast because of the 123d catch which allows people to capture 3d objects with their cell phone.

I liked the knight pattern so much that I went ahead and carved it myself and it came out very nice, hope it comes out as nice for you. I had a walnut tree that I had cut down that had some branches just about the right size to go in the rotary jig. Nothing like turning firewood into art to make up for all the times it has been the other way around. Final size about 8.5 inches tall and 4 in diameter.

Really like the way your knight turned out. Nice colors/grain in the finished piece.

Came out great and the walnut looks fantastic.

I reduced the size down to fit on a standard chess board and mirrored it vertically so both pieces will carve at the same time.

Could you get it to carve under the chin if you offset the knight from center?

Here is another site that bills itself as a search engine for 3d printable objects

http://www.yeggi.com

I used it and found this knight that you might like also:
