Has their been thought by LHR to develop a 3/16" long cutting bit or possible
a 1/4" long bit ? Make the od larger to take the stress on the cutting bit.
Just a thought, I could use a long cutting bit at times, I have to go 7/8" down
and finish on the band saw.
Just asking.

I second the motion for a 3/16" long bit.

Hi Perry,

The 1/8" Cutting Bit will go as deep as 1". What depth are you thinking for a "bigger" bit to go? Perhaps 1.5" thick material (i.e., nominal depth for 2x lumber).

On my 'big' CNC to cut through 2x lumber, it takes a pretty stout and heavy 1/2" diameter down-shear end mill bit (with a depth of cut at 1.5") to get through the material practically and without excessive bit flex. A 3/16" dia or 1/4" dia bit might not do very well cutting through at that depth unless you "baby" it.

Me too. I'd also like to see a deeper cut path tool. Maybe limit the depth of cut per pass so the bit isn't over stressed.

Hi Michael T, I have some 1 1/4" 75 year old cypress that I would like to keep at 1". I am going to plane just the bottom so it will travel smooth in the machine.
I want to leave the old rustic top on the wood. If a 1/8" bit can go 1" deep, then 3/16 will be safe at 1" also.
Thanks for the info.

I hit the mother load in old cypress and may get some more.
