Very, Very nice, Michael. I know a lot of Coke collectors who would like that one.

Very nice work! It even looks old with the antiquing...

How was this made? I'm assuming two separate projects, one for the frame and onefor the sign and then glue them together?

Hello,

I want to thank everyone for the kind comments about my "antique" Coke sign - you are all VERY encouraging. That's just one of the things so great about this forum!

In answer to your questions...

How was this made? I'm assuming two separate projects, one for the frame and onefor the sign and then glue them together?-Jim

I created the main sign layout in CorelX3, imported into Designer, added the fancy corners and sides using stock elements included with Designer, on a board measuring 18 x 11.25 x .75.

I did the fancy frame components totally in Designer and carved them separately.

I noticed in the before and after the coke bottle was added later?

I created the Coke bottle from a scan of a Coke Christmas ornament. The thin glass survived the scan, but did not survive ME when I was picking off the last little piece of hot-glue that I used to hold it in place (embedded) in a scrap piece of foam for the scanning sled!

I then "sliced" the wood Coke bottle to a thinner profile, with my bandsaw 'cause I found it was too thick for this project.

Painted everything, antiqued with red mahogany wood stain, fastened, epoxied the parts together - done! Finished dimensions are 19.5 x 14.25.

Come now MT, please post your designer program for this one. I am sure many of us will not be selling something as cool as this! (Well I wouldn't)
If I come up with something this cool, I surely would share the coolness.

very nice work Did you do the whole thing in one shot?

Hello Tim,

No, I carved the body of the sign separately from the outer frame carving and the Coke bottle. Made my painting job easier by doing it this way, plus my desired finished dimension would have been a tad too large to do at once.

See my post above (post #13) for more details how I did it.

I used plain ol' pine. "Before painting" and "After painting" pics are posted at the beginning of this thread.

It looks great! well done, it looks if you poured 2 part epoxy finish in it would be a cool tray also. I have a game room also and have a similar sign that is a mirror.
