Wondering if anyone has ever carved on Onyx? It's a type of solid surface material used for showers, sinks and counter tops like corian. I know it can be cut with woodworking tools, I have used small bits in the past. I found a good size sheet of it hiding in my shop and considered making coasters or hot plates from it. It's 1/2" thick, finished one side but rough on the other... not sure how to polish it but will experiment. Suggestions welcome.
