first rotary litho

Here is my first rotary litho:

This is the second rotary carving and they both had a slight gap where the carving should have gone the whole way around. I made sure that both had the pattern extending over the edge of the board. I had floor feather turned off and I calibrated twice and had the three turns stopping exactly on the dot, yet still got a gap. What am I doing wrong?

If you are using a full width pattern, be sure you "Attach" the left and right edges of your pattern to the left and right edges (respectively) of the board. Also, make sure you set the bit optimization to "Best" and uncheck the "Floor Feather" check box on the tool bar. Here is the link to the rotary tutorials. BTW, it still turned out pretty good.

Excellent Dave. Hope to see more of your carvings soon. Note: I'm still looking for cap ends so I can make a rotary litho...just might have to cut some wood plugs.

Dave, your lithophane looks great! Good for you. Steve had some excellent suggestions for eliminating the gap. (I agree with everyone else that the lithophane still looks wonderful!)

Sharon, I found an online link for the 3" drain cap at Home Depot's website. if you have a Home Depot near to you, they can probably order some for you if they don't have them in stock. Here's the link:
