It's gone up. I just got my machine back up and running, went to the lumber yard and found this.

For the quality of our pine it's not worth the price. People keep telling me that I can order it from the lower 48's and have it shipped up here on a barge and still get a better price and quality then what I can get here. I know a friend of mine put wooden floors in his whole house he ordered the flooring off island, had it shipped and installed for half of what it cost just to purchase the flooring from the local lumber yard.

When I am looking for Pine, or Oak I go to lowes or Home Depot, I just bought nearly the exact same size of red oak for a little over half that price. When I need Mahogony or some other specialty woods then I have to choice but to hit the local lumber yard and pay their price.

I would love to go to Lowes or Home Depot but they are on the mainland. I live on Kodiak Island, it cost a lot to get off the island, its about a 13 hour ferry trip to get to the mainland (in good seas) and then about 6 hours non stop driving to get to Anchorage. I was hoping to make the trip this summer but had some unexpected expense's which took away the trip money I already saved. I'm a little leery about just calling up home depot and ordering it on line site unseen but that's what I might have to do.

sorry I did not notice you were in Alaska. I thought I had limited selection of local wood!
