I noticed in the rotary jig tutorial the document about rounding the wood prior to carving http://www.carvewright.com/assets/service/Software_instructions/RoundRotary.pdf shows the machine carving a piece of treated 4x4. Everything I had seen here previously had warned against carving any treated wood. Does LHR have an official position on carving treated wood?

thanks,
dave

I am guessing but I think I remember it being stated that it wasn't a good idea. Airborne treated chemicals and what not. I don't think that was an official statement from lhr, just people's observation.

Common Sense !!!!! If you wanna have this dust going all over, then carve it .... It's not gonna hurt the bits or the machine ... I generally don't carve treated wood , Although I have... The couple times I did, I rolled my machine outside ..

Newer Pressure Treated is a copper based that causes Steel to RUST as in the Drill Rods used for the Rail Rollers.

Older Pressure Treated has Arsenic.

A search on the web will give you the details.
