I have a B machine. When measuring a board, I get a clicking sound from the x axis and it stops after about 1 inch. It gives me a Y axis stall error, thought the Y axis is not moving, weird. I did the x axis test and it runs the entire test OK. I tested the roller pressure and got 84 lbs. There is 1/16 or an inch roll up on the right side sander belt closest to the keypad.

In the past, I have had y axis clicking and it was the gear drive. Should I think about the x axis clicking like the Y axis, gear clicking?

Any other ideas?

If you have a rolled up belt, the first thing to do is fix it. The following is a tip I posted years ago as to an easy way to adjust the belts.

TIP: The sand paper rollers need not be removed and put in a vise to re-center the belts. Cut two 3/8" diameter approximately 0.8" long pieces of metal (from old bolts). These two pieces can be wedged between the spring shafts and the edges of the outfeed table (see pictures below). The cam action of lifting the outfeed table pushes on the spring shafts and releases the tension on the sand paper belt. The belt can easily be slid back to center. (Make sure you unroll the edge of the belt if if has rolled up.) The same procedure works on the front and rear belts. (While the belts are loose, you can shake them around and blow out any saw dust.)

Perform the x axis test without a board loaded. See how the belts travel with no board loaded. If you are still getting 1 icnh of movement and it stops - sounds like you make have a problemwith the power supply or X termination board

I did the x axis test and it ran fine, out and back.

The area of the belt that is folded under is about 1/16 of an inch, the loaded board does not touch it.

Even if the rolled under belt is not directly affecting the operation of the machine, it is causing damage. The sandpaper side of the belt is sanding the aluminum a destroying the belt end stop underneath. It is giving the x drive an extra load. If the x gears really are clicking, you should have a look at them. You could have some damaged teeth.

The clicking was a stripped gear. Working on the belt. Sanding belts are being obsoleted.
