Yep I did it.

I bought a Compucarve at Sears, even after reading all the bad post's
in this form. But I got to say I'm happy i did it came in on Wednesday
got it home, got it out of the box, tried to load software. (no dice)
Computer dosn't recognize the disk, so I tried my old computer still
no luck. So I made the call to carvewright and got the voicemail,
left message. (grumble grumble) But they called me the next day and
helped me reg. the downloaded software (Thank you Deidra)
But it sad to say my Compucarve is working just fine so I don't
get to complane about it! (grumble grumble)

Cutummup, Welcome aboard and join the chorus ( grumble grumble ),
The Bard can always use a little back ground music.

Its a better show if the background music overwhelmes Bard's lead.

Welcome, Grumble -I mean Cutummup! :) But remember, no grumbling allowed. When you do have a problem, try the search function here first, then ask for help (some men can ask), and if we can't help then call Carvewright.

I'll second that, I wasn't going to say anything but as someone who teaches power tool safety for the SCA and various childrens groups- ewwww.

A friend of mine, a now retired woodwork teacher at the school where I was the lab tech used to get all the 1st year children gathered round him and the bench saw in the middle of the woodwork room on their first lesson.

"Right, this saw has got 30 sharp teeth on it, and it goes round 50 times a second, OK." Nods from all the kids.

"And any one of those teeth could cut your fingers off if you put your hands on it." A few gasps.

"So in one second it could cut off 1500 fingers".

I don't think anyone fainted, but they never forgot the lesson.

Long ago when I got my industrial sewing machine (Im a harness maker) I tried to explain to my youngest how dangerous it was. She didnt quite get it. So for an example I took one of her old dolls destined for donation and told her to watch carefully and ran it through. Vivid yes, drastic yes but several months later my daughter had friends over one of them saw the machine and started to walk over to it. My daughter grabbed her arm and said 'you don't want to get near that, it does horrible things to dolls'.
