Thanks for the share. I am sure it will come in very handy. Got any pictures of one set up and is there a preference of wood type?

I have only built the prototype and its kinda ugly.
gotta wait till i get back in the shop next week.

I used 1/2 mdf because its 1/2 thick
i prefer russian birch plywood as I usually have stacks of scrap from drawers just didn't have any at the moment.
This mpc could probably use a proofread

I will post a pic of the prototype

here are photos if they help
I use two inserts in the top disc, push one half way in then flip it apply some glue and push the second one in from the back.

This is just a small version of a Longworth chuck for the lathe, a bowl makers tool. I just reworked it

I made one of those with the CW awhile back, I was going to try an incorporate it with the older Rotary jig

That is cool but it only works for stock that is round or regular. I have no problem finding the center of round stuff. When the stock is irregular, one needs circles to eye ball. I think I will try making something with circles out of acrylic. Just a simple, see through disc.

I thought the same thing...I've built stuff that ended up costing more in time and money than buying "off the shelf". It is fun to do that every now and then though!

Unless you can put it on the shelf for someone else to buy………..

anyway I am using the prototype and am quite pleased with the results.
I just put the stock in it and drill… no awl, pencil, lighting issues etc……..

Both have their place, I am logging both for when I get a off the shelf rotary jig (I have a home made one).

didn't you build Dans prototype? I did too and put it together but never used it. Just waited for the carvewright version when i saw rotary on the 2.0 upgrade
