If you want it in a format that can be vector carved I have it worked out already. You would have to import it into a font and use centerline.

I have lots of patterns like that, send me a "PM" with your e-mail I will send you some samples. If you have a line drawing of what you are looking for I could make you a CW pattern.

Be careful with those logos. I know the Marines, in particular, are very strict regarding the use of the globe/eagle/anchor.

I don't think they'd get involved if you made something and gave it away but if you sell it they get very angry indeed.

"Anyone wishing to use the marks, logos and symbols of the USMC is association with their goods and/or services must obtain a license."

http://www.hqmc.marines.mil/divpa/Units/MarineCorpsTrademarkLicensingProgram/FAQ.aspx

http://www.hqmc.marines.mil/images/min.gif What If You Do Not Get A License?
All products must be approved by the Marine Corps Trademark Licensing office. Failure to obtain a license or approval would be grounds for the seizure of all non-approved merchandise bearing USMC marks. It also could result in legal action.

Ah, replying to myself...regarding the USMC logos:

If you gross less than $5k annually, sell direct to your customers, (i.e. craft shows, Etsy.com), and do not use a manufacturer then please print and sign the Hobbyist License Agreement. No application necessary.

Can anyone tell me how I can get the marine dog only from the marinedog file in item #11? I said before that I go to Pendleton to the Wounded Warriors battalion with my woodturning group to teach woodturning. I would like to carve the dog in a 6/4 blank for the marines to carve into platters. All help is appreciated by my brothers and me. Semper Fi

Kevin, it comes through just as your original as a one piece carving that I don't know how separate. I want to have just the dog to put a circle around to treat as a carved region that the guys (PTSD Marines) can turn into a plate. I have carved the Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblem and the Iwo Jima figure on 8/4 10.5" X 10.5" blanks on a circular carve region for them to turn into6966969670 plates and thought they would also enjoy the dog.

Aight how bout this Jack .... I can't find the original PTN so I used several carve regions and set them at zero to cover up the text ... I'll keep lookin it's gotta be here somewhere !!! It wasn't originally done by me so I cannot change it in pattern editor .. If this is no good I will do a screen shot of carve and see what I can do .. I'm not the best with graphics software ... LOL ... I'm usually up here asking for help finishing them up ...

One more idea if this might help Jack. Based upon the Georgia Bulldog, but then a Devil Dog is a Devil Dog. If this would help I'll remove the GA tag and add a USMC hanger in it's place for you. The design is a raster carve down into the surface but you can try inverting it to stand above your circular carve area.

Well a quiet morning so I decided to play a little more in Ver 1.187 with this idea for the USMC Devil Dog. Here's an illustration and the MPC in Ver 1.187 so maybe others can improve on it as well. Hope this helps Jack.

And here is the MPC to let you try it and scale it to your project.

Thank you ALL! Your time and effort in this project is greatly appreciated. My friend, Jack, and I (also Jack) will be carving blanks for the Wounded Warriors at both Pendelton and Balboa Hospital for them to turn into placks. We will use the EGA, and Iwo blanks previously shown and the bulldog blank provided by Ed. We thought it would carve best for our project. Our woodturning club is assisting us by paying for the needed wood and if needed patterns to carve. 69701

Thank you for your response and interest in supporting the East Coast Wounded Warrior Battalion. Are you a carver? Woodturner? Are you a member of a woodworking club? I am one member of the San Diego Woodturners who have taken on support of the Wounded Warriors at Camp Pendelton, Balboa Hospital and the San Diego VA. We are almost 200 members strong though only two of us have CarveWright CNC machines. Our members spend two days a week at each of these facilities teaching the WW how to turn wood. We have provided from 4 to 8 lathes at each facility. There are also sit-down lathes at each location for those who can no longer stand. We start by teaching them to turn pens then advance then to platters and bowls and eventually to turn the platters from the CNC carved blanks. We have fund raisers to support the program, for example we are currently selling member and WW turned pens, $20 donation and member turned tops, some CNC carved, donation $5 at the San Diego county fair. Our members have turned hundreds no thousands of tops. It is a big expensive effort and unless you have interest and support from more than just yourself I would not recommend you start the program. 70218

I appreciate all that jack. My plate is overly full right now as I start my own business and finish my military career. With 16 months left. Maybe when I officially retire I can make the time, and should, to do this.
