Fort Sill has a Soldier Outreach Services Branch to assist families of fallen soldiers and ask me to build a fallen soldier memorial stand. I would have liked to use something better than oak and stain (I prefer to use wood colors in their natural color), but they wanted it very dark and the budget was very, very, very limited (I ended up eating the cost for half of it). I was racking my brain to think of a way to double mortise the panel where the LED lights sit in (mortise for the light and mortise for the light diffuser) when it hit me that the CW was the tool to make this come out perfect. However, other than those mortises, this is 99% CW free. I didn't want too much elaboration so it wouldn't take away from the overall theme of the piece. QAC always welcome.

Absolutely beautiful, a remembrance that will not be forgotten by the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Job well done.

Thanks for the kind words. I should have mentioned that the bottom section is a "coin holder" for units to put in their unit challenge coins in remembrance/respect for the fallen. It should be able to hold about 200-250 unit challenge coins. It is also lit if you cant see it in the picture.
