Here is a take-off of MT's apple box and my shell box, both posted years back. It is a 2 sided carve requiring an 18" x 5.5" x 3/4 piece, the carving and cutting bits. When carved, counter sink the small hole from the back, fit the pieces together and drill a small shallow pilot hole in the front thru the back and attach the front and back with a 3/4 #6 flat head screw.
